Ugly Shoes for 2k14: Heeled Shoes Edition

Ugly! Hideous! Disgusting! Gross! How would you describe these shoes? Why would you describe them in that way? I think they're divine. I mean I would wear them of course. I have always been sort of an ugly shoe connoisseur. I've treasured wearing leopard print booties amongst a sea of adidas shell tops while in high school. I rocked hunter green elf shoes for junior year. I distinctly remember a pair of T.U.K 2-inch platform creepers in white/black that I wore for a year straight. I have nothing against ugly shoes. Not everyone can wear them though. 

Now truth be told, some of these shoes aren't ugly. Just a bit weird. Not many people can wear furry/velveteen shoes. None the less heels. I'll admit the Nina Ricci's are gorgeous in that deep grey. The fur poking out is a beautiful, plush touch to the delicate looking shoe. House of Holland definitely thought of glamour when they paired those furry low heels with gorgeous colorful outfits. The furball on top is a playful touch. It reminds me of a bunnies tail!

The Miu Miu's though need a separate section. Now I have worn a lot of hideous shoes in my lifetime, but those seem to take the cake. And I mean they took it and ran halfway around the globe with it. Those shoes are ugly. I sat around my room for a good while, thinking of how to pair them and if I could wear socks with them. I can't think of what kind of outfit to wear them with which to me is a red flag. My feet aren't cute enough to be let loose in that plastic-y stuff. In fact, my feet would probably melt. It looks a bit warm in it. Like being in a raincoat naked in the middle of a brazilian jungle.The heels look like screws and aren't even straight. They slant off towards the middle of your foot if you buy the leather ones. Very wear-at-your-own-risk! These are definitely the shoes that should stay only on the runway and not find it's way into your closet.

Three orange and one blood orange outfits for Pre-fall season! Can you see it? Can you see the blood orange fur Christian Dior coat slung casually over your shoulders as you wait for little Sally to pick up her favorite pumpkin from the pumpkin patch? Can you feel the Puglisi coat protect you from the snowflakes of a surprise blizzard? I sure can. These bright shades are sure to keep you toasty in the brisk weather this fall!

Have you seen it? Has Chloe slapped you in the face with their Pre-Fall 2014 collection yet?

This look hit me in the face this afternoon. What's not to love? The over-sized double-down wool coat or the brown heels that wrap around the ankles? Maybe it's the stark white fur knee-length vest underneath the coat? No! We love it all. Chloe brings back skirts with side-slits and high bulky boots that reach the knees to give warmth and stability. But girly and giggly for the fall is hard to achieve when you're battling brisk cold air and holding a boiling hot cup of Starbucks coffee. I tend to go towards ice-hearted robot when I stroll around the city on account of my numb, frozen face. Chloe still delivers for the hard faced cyborgs as well.

Okay so how can I say this without screaming? The pants!! A few years back, I realized that my long legs look even longer when I stop wearing black skinny jeans and start wearing lounge around inspired pants. The larger the pant leg, the longer my legs look. A style I'm already incorporating in the summer has been palazzo pants in various nudes, neutrals, blush tones and blacks. Paired with this black wool jacket in various fabrics including a soft shearling, how does this not scream casual stroll on a cool October day? If you're not a fan of either looks, what about this?

Work! When I say work, I mean work it and I mean work looks. Ruffled tops and ruffled skirts in neutral colors that don't show much leg or aren't strapless is an ultimate work look. If you work in retail like I do, you're always looking for something that says "I care about this job but I care about the looks I serve a bit more." This is sexy, this is feminine, this is classic. It's flirtatious and its simple. The waterfall ruffles tend to make outfits look too fluffy but when paired so simply with a black ruffled skirt or a plain pencil skirt, it add a bit of ooh-la-la!

This look screams lazy Iris. If you know me personally, you'll know that I have various turtlenecks in at least 10 different colors and fabrics as well as a very, very large maxi skirt collection. And not just any maxi skirts but black maxi skirts. This one speaks volumes. A tiered maxi skirt made of fabric that's a bit sheer but nothing too revealing. I can only imagine the flow of the skirt in a brisk night. Pairing it with a turtleneck not only keeps you warm but also gives that picture perfect look of pairing perfect textures. You know those bloggers and stylists who pair chunky, hairy sweaters over light frilly dresses with long leather boots. You see the close up shots and compare textures and you shudder as if you can feel the fabric between your fingers. When styling, throwing different textures of the same color has been hugely effective. A baby blue mohair sweater with a navy plaid flannel button-down wrapped around the waist with silk pants makes me excited.

First of all, the boots! Warmth won't be optimal with these shoes. Made to hit your knees in case you decide to wear the waterfall ruffled skirt or any knee length or higher. No need to sacrifice your body heat to look cute. The coats are amazingly color blocked. The second model in the photo has the color-blocked coat on. The cream upper hit her hips before changing into a completely different pattern of striped wool. The first model's skirt mimics that pattern so well. What's even better is the trim that comes down the skirt which helps make the skirt look flatter and the legs look longer.

I've been a Chloe fan for a couple of years and this season as well as their spring season made me giddy. From the chunkiness of the over sized pieces such as the sweaters and scarves, I've fallen in love with this aesthetic for the cooler seasons.
