How to look dewy in the summer

Not to be mistaken with sweaty, dewy is cute and soft. Sweaty is hot and sticky. The real struggle for most of us when trying to look dewy and fresh is the habit to go overboard or even worse go outside in 90 degree weather and transform into a sweaty, hot mess. (Yes as you can see, I'm not a fan of summer sun!) So how do we maintain a glow in the spring and impending sunny summer weather?
Fake it! No need to apply heavy lotions or creams that make you look oily. Just grab a silver toned highlighter if you have olive skin or lighter or a gold flecked highlighter/bronzer if you have browner shades. I learned this trick when I was a teen and enjoyed looking barefaced without actually being bare-faced. I apply highlighter on my chin and blend with my finger. Yes, fingers! Your fingers are warm and will help the highlight blend instead of sit and look like you have unblended powder on your face. Next, I apply it down the bridge of my nose. My nose is pronounced a bit and the bridge is quite prominent. I apply it lightly down my nose and add a bit more at the tip to make it look pointier. I also apply it on my cupid's bow. Next, step is applying it on your cheekbones. If you can't find or locate where your cheekbones are, make a fish face and feel around under your eye and up, going towards the top of ear for where your cheekbones start. Then apply it lightly. You can also apply it sparingly going towards your forehead in a gradient manner.

Now, I've learned that for my skin tone, the dewier I look, the better. My features are quite prominent on my face. Highlighting them and then slight contouring tends to make them look smaller. Applying highlight and vaseline down my nose helps highlight and moisturize. I realize even in the summer a bit of vaseline won't be too overbearing. Consider the parts of your body that will catch the sun light and make them glow. The tops of your shoulder, your outer area on your arms, the tops of your thighs, tops of your shin bone and feet will catch the sunlight the most. Applying a light moisturizing cream town the middle of each section helps fake a glow.
Remember, dewy skin goes best with a bare looking face. So try and skip on the bright red lips or the smokey eye. Just apply some lip moisturizer, a bit of blush and you're set to go.
